“A Passion for Caring”

Hong Kong show-cases a night to remember with AWA's Black Tie Ball

On March 7th, the American Women's Association held their annual ball "A Passion for Caring" at the Hong Kong Country Club. The Gala was organized by glamorous co-hosts Meera Gandhi and Kam Faiola. The night was a huge success which raised funds to support 41 vital causes like Action for Reach out; Hand on Hong Kong; Enrich; Haven of Hope Sunny side school; Sisters of Good Shepherd; Helping Hand; End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation; Hong Kong Blind Association; Soul talk and The Salvation army, were key recipients of the evening’s fundraising and are but a few of the organizations that AWA supports. The event showcased memorabilia from Bob Dylan, Barack Obama and Led Zepplin's signed guitar, the proceeds of which went to the above charitable organizations.

Active bidders included Mrs Jackie Russell who offered more than $20,000 on the Chiva Som package and Olivier and Anne Dauphine de Grivel who bid on the Yangtze River package which went for over $25,000.

Erin Schmidt president of AWA was delighted with the out come especially since Marcia Hammelev Sandler did an amazing job with the decor with had the ball room bathed in Pink splendour.

It was a night that took the AWA ball to new heights with great expectations that next year it will again be an evening that many will want to attend and support.
