Stardust Global Icon awards support girl child campaign

New York: Stardust is hosting the first of its kind global icon awards on July 13th at the Plaza Hotel in New York to celebrate global Indian achievers. This award show has taken up the initiative of supporting the Celebrate The Girl Child Campaign - Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save girl child, educate girl child) a social campaign that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls. This initiative was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22nd 2015, which aims to eradicate female feticide. The Stardust initiative shall bring together global icons who shall pledge to eradicate female feticide and promote women empowerment.

Swami Chidanand Swaraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India; who is currently in New York as a guest at the United Nations for the International Yoga Day, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, fashion designer and social activist Sanjana Jon, who has been associated with the campaign against female feticide since 2003 and Meera Gandhi CEO of Giving Back Foundation, which works towards empowerment of women and children interacted with press correspondents on June 20th at Chatwal Hotel, New York.

The guests highlighted the concern of female feticide and discussed the need to eradicate this issue which dents our society even today. A special calendar highlighting National Shakti shall be released and an oath shall also be taken by the global icons on July 13th pledging to eradicate female feticide and to promote women empowerment at the Stardust Global Icon Awards.
